Leather care guide
What is vegetable leather?
It is cowhide tanned with natural tannins obtained from tree bark and plants instead of chrome or chemical agents. Because it does not go through chemical processes, the leather's inherent structure and density remain alive as they are.
The color changes the more you use it (aging)
Vegetable leather gradually darkens and develops a subtle luster with sunlight, oils from your hands and time. This is called a patina, and the charm of this leather is that each person who carries it leaves a different color and different marks. It is not a defect, so please do not worry.
When it gets wet
Leather is vulnerable to water. If it gets wet, immediately press it with a dry cloth to wipe off the moisture, then let it dry naturally in the shade. Drying it with hot air, such as from a hair dryer or heater, can make the leather hard or deformed. We recommend taking it off before showering, swimming or exercising.
Sunlight and humidity
If left in direct sunlight for a long time, the color may change unevenly, and if left in a humid place for a long time, mold may develop. Please store it in a cool, well-ventilated place.
When stains or dirt appear
Wipe it by lightly dabbing with a dry cloth or a soft cloth that has been wrung out well. Alcohol, detergent and wet wipes can damage the leather, so it is best not to use them.
When storing
When you are not wearing it, please store it separately so that it is not pressed or scratched by other items. If you keep perfume and cosmetics from touching the leather directly, you can use it cleanly for longer.
What about chrome-tanned leather products?
Some products are made of chrome-tanned cowhide with vivid color. It tends to be more resistant to water and friction than vegetable leather, but please be careful not to let it stay wet for long. The material of each product can be checked in the material information on the product page.
